Standard Scoresheets
Sections
Scoresheets in LMS are laid out vertically and they are filled in from top to bottom. The first round of the match is at the top with games in that round following directly beneath it. The opponents for each match are listed with the Home team opponent on the left and the away team opponent on the right.
Section A - Each team name has a player icon next to it that is used to add new players to a team directly from the scoresheet. This saves you time since you do not have to leave the scoresheet.
Section B - Break indicator and game type. This section is either a dark blue circle or a light gray circle. A dark blue circle indicates the breaking player and the light gray circle is the non-breaking player. If a game type was specified for the scoresheet, it will appear in the circle as well.
Section C - If the scoresheet is using handicaps, enter the handicap for each game in these boxes.
Section D - Each game within a round is listed on one line. The image depicts a singles game between two players. You score a game by selecting the players involved in the game and then the scores for the game. If a sub was called in for the game, you can use the Add Player button to add a new player to the team and use the sub for the necessary games.
Section E - Individual game scores are recorded in this column. The format of these scores depends on the type of game being played and the scoring system being used. Here are some common ones:
- 10-point - 10 points for a game win, otherwise the number of balls made.
- 17-point - the losing player receives 1 point for each ball made and the winning player receives 17 points minus the number received by the losing player.
- 1-point - the winner receives 1 point and the loser receives zero.
Section F - This section contains the game totals and the running totals for the match. The numbers inside parenthesis are the scores for the individual game and the score outside parenthesis is the running total for the match.
Score Adornments
Each game can be won in one of a number of "special" ways. We refer to these special wins as adornments and they are tracked in the reports for your league. Adornments are scored by entering the adornment abbreviation. By default, adornment wins are scored as the default winning score for a game depending upon the scoring system you are using. You can change the applied score by optionally entering a number directly after the adornment (e.g. WB15 specifies that the game was won on-the-break and the winner receives 15 points).
LMS supports the following adornments. Feel free to use them as you see fit for your league. The use of these adornments is not mandatory.
- Break-and-run (BR) - indicates that the breaking player proceeded to win the game without their opponent getting a turn.
- Table run (TR) - indicates that a player won the game during their first turn at the table.
- Win-zip - the winning player won leaving their opponent with a score of zero.
- Win by forfeit - the winning player won the game because there was no opponent to play.
Operator Bonus
Cases arise that LMS cannot explictly handle. For example, a league operator may wish to award bonus points for prompt payment of league dues. At the bottom of the scoresheet is the Operator Bonus section. It contains controls for specifying bonus points to the home and/or away teams. You can award either positive or negative points for games, rounds, and points. In the example above, the league operator may decide to award 10 bonus points for teams that include all of their league dues each week. As such, they would enter 10 into the Bonus Points section for the teams that promptly remit their dues.
Award Points
There are instances were a league operator may wish to award points to a team when they have a bye. This often arises if a division has a bye but not all teams have the same number of byes. The Award Points feature is used in this case.
When you click the Award Points button, LMS calculates a few numbers that are useful for figuring out how many points to award. LMS calculates the average number of games, rounds, and points that winning teams receive. For example, in a particular division winning teams may on average win 6 games. LMS calculates that value and displays it in the Award Points boxes. You can (and should) figure out what values you want before clicking the Save button.
Please note that you can not award points and enter a scoresheet for the same match. It is one or the other. If you award points and later need to change it to a scoresheet, you can undo the award points choice.
