Leagues and Divisions
Important Terms
LMS uses the terms leagues and divisions in a way that may be different from what you are used to. In LMS, leagues are just groups of divisions. For example, Joe runs a league in his home town. He calls his league "Joe's Southside Pool League". Each year Joe runs two divisions in the fall and two divisions in the spring. In this case, there is a league named "Joe's Southside Pool League" which contains four divisions. Some league operators use the term "sessions" to mean the same thing as LMS divisions.

Leagues in LMS stick around forever. A division, on the other hand, is for a single session. The next year, Joe will create four new divisions. LMS provides a feature to copy existing divisions to make this process as easy as possible. You can learn more about the copying divisions in the Creating Divisions section.
