Welcome to the Division Builder

The Division Builder is the tool you will use to create new divisions for your league. The builder walks you through a series of steps that have you configure your division settings, add teams and locations, and set up your schedule. Although creating your first division can be a bit overwhelming, this site will walk you through everything you need to know.

Copy Division

Since most divisions do not change much from session to session, LMS makes it easy to copy an existing division. For example, let's say that you just finished your spring session and are ready to start a summer session. When you create your new division, you can click "Copy Division" and pick the spring session. This will copy over all of the division settings, locations, and teams. All you need to do is give it a new name, fix up any teams that may have joined or dropped out, and create a new schedule.

Format

LMS supports just about every league format you can think of. So...the first step in creating your division is figuring out just what kind of division you are trying to build.

There are a bunch of ways in which league operators describe their format: 5x5x1, match play, singles, sets, etc. We have tried to simplify this by breaking things down into players, rounds, and games. You can learn more about the the formats supported in the Creating Divisions/Formats section.

Locations

Every match played in LMS occurs at a Location. When you create a division, you will specify the location(s) that the division will be played in.

Teams

Every division must have at least four teams. Each team will have one or more players and be assigned a home location.

Schedule

LMS can generate schedules for your division. We have created a state-of-the-art schedule builder that using a fancy genetic algorithm to determine a schedule that attempts to meet all of your division's constraints. We go into detail on this in the Creating Divisions/Schedule section.
